Boz Boorer Guest DJ's "Underground" in West Hollywood 7.12.02
Well hey what a great couple of Fridays I have had: last week meeting former Morrissey songwriting partner/guitarist Johnny Marr and tonight it was meeting current Morrissey songwriting partner/guitarist Boz Boorer. Next week I'll probably run into Alain Whyte ordering a McSalad Shaker at McDonald's in Culver City...
I arrived at the club shortly before the Mod mob. I was able to get a few minutes to chat and ask a couple questions fellow Moz fans would like to know:
Do you have a recording contract? It's been rumoured you do. "At first there was some substance to it- but it's dwindled down quite a bit."
When do you plan on recording? "Now would be a good time to do it- well, right after the tour- we'll be tight and ready..."
The place was waaaaay over capacity and there were people all around him the rest of the night so I'm glad I caught him when I did. He mixed a GREAT set with plenty of BritPop and even a few Smiths/Moz songs "Barbarism Begins At Home" and "Sister I'm A Poet" - interesting choices in that he doesn't appear on either track. Very cool to hear that he really likes the music made before his arrival to the band.
Moz Angeles ROCKS!
best,
Jay
